Notebook Bookmark

Want a gift that takes 10 minutes or less to make?  A notebook bookmark is a great addition to any gift.

Supplies

Notebook

Decorative pens, pencils, highlighters, or markers

2 1/2″ x 12 1/2″ outside fabric

2 1/2″ x 12 1/2″ lining fabric

2 1/4″ x 12 1/4″ decor bond

1/4- 1″ elastic (whatever you have laying around)

Basic sewing supplies

Directions:

All seams are 1/4″.

Measure the length of your notebook by wrapping the elastic around the book.  Add 1/2″ and cut the elastic to this measurement. Sew the two ends of the elastic together, making sure to double stitch for strength. Set aside.

Iron the decor bond to the back of the outside fabric.

Put the outside fabric and lining fabric right sides together and sew all the way around, leaving one short end unsewn.

Turn the book mark right side out. Press well.  Turn the unsewn end in 3/8″ to 1/2″ to the inside of the book mark.  Stitch closed.

Fold the bottom of the book mark up 4″ and topstitch close the edge all the way around.

Lay the elastic along the back of the bookmark lengthwise, making sure to center it, and stitch along the top and bottom to secure it.  Make sure to double stitch to keep it secure.

Add your pens or markers and slide it onto your book and done!

This is a great project for a new planner, college books, or puzzle books!
